I don't recommend this hotel, because it is not my "thing", if it is your "thing", then I would recommend it. Read on: This hotel was a great deal for the price. I stayed at another all inclusive that was almost double the price and this was a much better place. The pools were great. One had two water slides. The food was standard buffet food, nothing  special. The room was very nice. They had fresh flowers out, large bed, and a large room. The layout of the property was also really nice. The rooms are in buildings spread out throughout the property all close to the main areas but much quieter than what you would get in a hotel. The beach is nice, but like all the beaches in the area. What I didn't like was the location. When I travel, I like to experience the culture of the country. This property is in a "compound". Playa Dorado is a gated community of several all inclusive resorts along the sandy beach. I felt like I wasn't supposed to see the locals and how they lived. I could have gotten this experience in Florida and wouldn't have to pay so much for a plane ticket. It is a great place if you want to be safe and just eat and lay on the beach, but if you like to have adventures and experience culture, find a place outside of Playa Dorado.

I enjoyed my stay and we definitely return. Keep in mind this hotel caters to families. There are a variety of activities for children through out the day. The alcohol is abundant keep that in mind Dominicans have Rum for breakfast!! LOL! If you decide to buy the "Mama Juana" dry make sure you pour some cheap rum in the bottle before you get to the airport, Because they will make you do it otherwise!!!!

The hotel offers an excellent all-inclusive package for the price. The alcohol and the food are not very high quality, but they are in unlimited supply. The beach is beautiful: don't come here for the food, come here to drink (free) pina colladas on a hammock at the beach while reading a few books.

Food choices were great, every night there was a different theme, alcoholic beverages were available all day and most of the night, plenty in and around the hotel to keep you busy. The only things I had a problem with were when I cut my finger on a glass I dropped in my room no one (front desk/guest relations) would not supply me with a band-aid. Instead the employees told me to go to the gift shop. The other thing was on the days/times they have representatives positioned throughout the resort to get you to sign up they really hassle you. Even if you tell them you already signed up, it's a big pain in the butt. I went with my boyfriend before spring break (March I think), the weekend before we left there were lots of kids on spring break. I would definitely not go during or close to spring break unless you are looking to be around kids drinking their alcohol out of super sized 7-11 mugs...it's an all inclusive resort, the alcohol is unlimited/free, what's with the huge mugs?!! I would definitely (and already have) recommend this all inclusive resort! It's on a beautiful beach, safe area, walking distance to shopping, the staff is super helpful!

Could use a facelift because it's starting to show it's age.

The common areas appeared well maintained. Much of the staff spoke fluent English, which made communication a bit easier. The rooms were clean, but not glamorous by any means. We had upgraded to an ocean view room, but a standard room would have been very similar and just as adequate. The beach is public, lending itself to many intrusions by street vendors and other activities staffers. The food selection at the buffet was mediocre. Overall, the value was decent.

What I like was that the hotel was right by the beach. You could lactually walk from your room to the beach, that was great! I also liked the fact that everything was included in the price : breakfast, lunch dinner and beverages. The resort also offered a good mix of different activities to keep you entertained. In all, for the money I paid, I thing I got a fantastic bargain!

Hotel is all-inclusive. Food in general is fair. Dominican a la carte restaurant is good. The telephone in my room was not working and they never fixed it. The nightly entertainments are focused on Saturday nights. The employees in general are friendly.
