Recent Viva Wyndham Playa Dorada Review: "we just stayed here with our 2 kids ages 2 and 5. the room was clean. we brought a sound machine to block out the noise, but the room actually blocked out most of the noise. unfortunately, the pool closed at 6pm which is weird for us from the u.s., but another hotel we stayed at had the stay rule so maybe that's typical for them. i would rate the food about a 2-3 out of 5 stars. i am pretty picky, but my husband agreed it wasn't too good. i could find a little to eat at each meal. the beach was nice and just a 5 minute walk along a pretty path. a few people trying to sell you stuff, but not too bad. they went away if you said no the 1st time. we got to kayak and we took the sailboat out although they tried to discourage us. they wouldn't let anyone do any of the water sports on thurs. of easter wkend. i think their holiday starts thurs though. most of the workers were very nice and friendly, although i was surprised that they didn't speak much english, even at the check in desk. i was also surprised that there was only 1 other american there they we noticed. i guess it was more locals and europeans. since we had the kids we didn't see any shows. i did water aerobics and they had beach and water volleyball.my son loved the foosball tables. it was not crowded at all so you didn't have to wake at the crack of dawn to save a pool or beach chair. we ate at the buffet for breakfast and dinner. just so so. we ate at the ibiza beach for lunch. hotdogs, hamburgers and pizza, edible, but not great. we ate at he ibiza for dinner 1 nite(reservation) and the roasted chicken and mashed potatoes were good, the paella ok.overall, i would recommend this to a family with kids that aren't looking for a whole lot of entertainment.if you are looking for just a nice, decent hotel on a budget this is a good one, just don't expect too much of the food and maybe it'll be better than you think."

| A short guide to Cabarete |
|
Cabarete is a small town on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, about 20 minutes from the international airport. The reef at the bay’s entrance, backdrop of low-lying hills, and the prevailing direction of the trade winds combine to make the town a mecca for windsurfers, kite-surfers, and other water sports enthusiasts. Cabarete also has a great beach for sunbathing.
